Sagada is a small town in the Mountain Province, Philippines. It is famous for its beautiful caves, hanging coffins, as well as the serene mountains. It is located 275 km. north of Manila, 140 km. from Baguio, and it is adjacent to Bontoc, the provincial capital. Sagada is famous for its "hanging coffins".
In Sagada, one would admire its cool fresh air, pine sceneries, rocky terrain, waterfalls, centuries-old burial caves, hanging coffins, rice terraces, and its local weaving industry. Although agriculture is the main source of income in Sagada, it also earns significantly from its tourism industry.
Banaue rice terraces has been described as the eighth wonder of the world. Carved out of the hillside by Ifugao tribes people 2000 to 3000 years ago without the aid of machinery to provide level steps where the natives plant rice. And they are still in use today.
