The SafetyWorks Forum is a very timely and relevant topic considering Compliance in Labor Law standards will potentially reduce labor grievances and disputes. Harmony in the workplace is an open door that leads to productivity.
This Forum aims to look into Occupational Health and Safety terms, conditions, policies, and practices in the country today. It shall provide updates on the emerging Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) directions and regulations that Employers have to comply with.
According to the OHSC, there is an increasing number of occupational safety and health champions who will facilitate compliance of enterprises according to the OSH standards; inspire workers to be vigilant against workplace hazards; and communicate the value of OSH to families and communities.
A safe and healthy workplace protects employees from possible injuries and illnesses resulting to lower costs associated with industrial accidents. It significantly reduces absenteeism and turn over rates; increases productivity and quality; and boosts employee morale. Moreover, it reduces sick leave and insurance costs and penalties associated with non-compliance to occupational safety and health practices.
The forum highlights the critical importance of addressing these challenges and to improve on health, safety and environmental risks and hazards management. The main goal of safety and health programs is to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses and deaths, as well as the suffering and financial hardship these events can cause workers, their families and employers.
This learning event is a biennial forum where prominent Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) authorities and practitioners share best practices, guide and emphasize the importance of OSH Champions in promoting this Culture in the Philippines. Sufficient time will be reserved in deliberating practical tools, solutions and good practices during the panel discussion. Recommendations shall be integrated and submitted to OSH for consideration and action.
